Congresses are back but the focus has changed

It is fair to say that after two years of virtual engagement, most people are chomping at the bit to return to in-person events. Virtual just isn’t the same. However, the benefits are different depending on who you ask. For attendees, virtual events provided more flexibility and greater access to symposia with information remaining accessible for longer via online portals. The same cannot be said for online exhibition halls, where virtual attendance was poor and the ability to network was limited.

As we slowly move on from the pandemic, we are seeing a return to in-person events. Our own research shows that 100% of the 65 medical congresses we have surveyed are providing in-person events, with 40% of those providing a hybrid solution. So how does the industry manage this dual approach? And how can we ensure we keep both audiences engaged?

An article in Pharmaphorum suggests that medical societies will need to apply imagination, innovation and have a willingness to experiment. They go on to say that a reliance on specialist technology partners will be of critical importance for strategic and tactical guidance. This approach is not only relevant to the medical society but also to those exhibiting. If congresses are going to be a mix of physical and virtual, both medical societies as well as pharma will need to up their game to meet expectations from attendees.

Supporting pharma at congresses is nothing new for Tangent90. We have spent the last decade providing innovative solutions that enable pharma to collect and distribute all their congress literature and assets. We know the value that HCPs place on scientific content. We also know the challenges of sharing that content compliantly. Our solutions enable pharma to share digital scientific content, track usage and enable follow-through via CRM with the HCP post-event.

As a specialist solution provider and Veeva Silver Certified Technology Partner, our platform works within pharma’s existing ecosystem, allowing them to share ePrints, quick-take videos and article research summaries directly with the HCP via their existing channels. This solution works with event registration technology and uses touch-free, innovative expertise to support safe contactless interactions either in-person, via standalone kiosks on your booth or via a virtual platform. We work with your existing agencies to provide the consistency and technology to enable the provision of content that your agency can leverage to enhance your congress presence. Working together, we can ensure your physical and virtual booth optimises every opportunity to deliver your desired ROI.
